The function of the steering transmission mechanism is to transmit the force and motion of the steering gear to the steering knuckles on both sides of the steering bridge, so that the steering wheels on both sides are deflected, and the deflection angle of the two steering wheels is changed according to a certain relationship to ensure the wheels and the steering wheel when the vehicle is turned. The relative sliding of the ground is as small as possible.
1) Steering gear mechanism for use with non-independent suspension
The steering mechanism for use with the non-independent suspension mainly includes a steering rocker arm, a steering straight-bar knuckle arm and a steering trapezoid. In the case where the front axle is only a steering axle, the steering trapezoid consisting of the steering tie rod and the left and right trapezoidal arms is generally arranged behind the front axle. When the steering wheel is in a neutral position corresponding to the straight line of the vehicle, the angle of intersection of the trapezoidal arm and the tie rod in a plane (horizontal plane) parallel to the road is >90.
In the case of a lower engine position or a steering axle and a drive axle, in order to avoid motion interference, the steering trapezoid is often arranged before the front axle, at which time the above-mentioned angle of intersection is <90. If the steering rocker does not swing back and forth in the longitudinal plane of the vehicle, but swings to the left and right in a plane parallel to the road, the steering straight rod can be traversed, and the steering pin is directly driven by the ball pin, thereby pushing both sides The trapezoidal arm rotates.
2) Steering gear mechanism for use with independent suspension
When the steering wheels are independently suspended, each steering wheel needs to be independently moved relative to the frame, and thus the steering axle must be disconnected. Correspondingly, the steering trapezoid in the steering gear must also be disconnected.
3) Steering straight rod
The function of the steering straight rod is to transmit the force and motion from the steering rocker to the steering trapezoidal arm (or knuckle arm). It is subjected to both tension and pressure, so the straight rods are made of high quality special steel to ensure reliable operation. When the steering wheel deflects or jumps relative to the frame due to the elastic deformation of the suspension, the relative movements of the steering straight rod and the steering rocker arm and the knuckle arm are all spatial movements, and in order to prevent motion interference, the connection between the three is Use a ball pin.
